Unicorn by 0xec6d0
Consensual. Street art remains by definition consensual. Many contemporary artists offer basic visions where mickeys and minnies kiss on Time Square, or children in a destroyed city draw hearts of peace. Scoundrels where love triumphs over money.
Unicorn offers another vision of street art. A raw and lively movement, a riot of energy and a pull that breaks with the subject. Like Cancel Culture, Unicorn ignores the very foundations of what street art and representative art should be. Pure and hard nominalism to express a will, that of not being conformist, to also follow Marcel Duchamps & co, in their ready-made, in their Dada period too.
As always the work is surrounded by red tape, a ribbon marked "Do not drop" or "Fragile", all in reference to the famous auctioneer who, a few years ago, refused a work of 0xec6d0 in a sale, telling him that "it did not have enough value".
Blond Power, the artist's favorite lucky charm is also found on the work, like a totem, like a lucky charm that will give anyone who believes in it luck, the real one, that of the amateur poker player, that of the beginner or that of the CEO launching a startup.
Worked with ultramarine blue Liquitex heavy body, naphthhol red and a bitumen marker from Molotow, Unicorn is one of those works of 0xec6d0 that pays tribute to French art. Which echoes the Dadas, Manzoni too, those who thought art before becoming symbols themselves.
