The Europe Monster
Characteristic of the production of 0xec6d0: The Europe Monster. A powerful pictorial work, heavy with meaning. Made of black, red and blue, we find more than on his other paintings the marker Molotow, in scarification, screaming monster.
Europe is indeed a heavy subject for the artist who observes every day, through his discussions with people here and elsewhere, the problems posed by the European institution, not only at the cultural level, but also socially, even societal and economic. For some it is a fact: Europe is a monster. A monster that suppresses past identities, a monster that destroys religions, a monster that destroys the economy, but also and above all: a monster that little by little, turns into federalism.
Individuals in France, Spain, Italy, Poland and Germany suffer greatly from the various economic policies pursued by Europe. The farmer who faces price harmonisation, the baker who pays a high price for his electricity, an indirect victim of Europe and its pricing policy, or the one who has seen his bills and purchasing power explode as soon as the single currency comes.
Of course Europe has its advantages, they protect, allow free movement, facilitate trade. But the ideal she carried is dead. It is not more. Brexit first, then the distensions between great nations, and above all a reality that pushes: Europe is not a nation. Europe is not a country, Europe is a market, the second largest in the world. And in a society where many are looking for each other, where many are lost, Europe symbolizes a monster that creates resentment, that creates distances, that denies nations, languages, traditions, customs, religions, that denies the particular and transforms him sandstone, or force, into an economic citizen of a vast whole that he no longer desires.
For the artist Europe is a monster, and its ideals that pushed everyone to rise in the past to hope to achieve the best of him, but also of society, have turned into a micro/macro-economic-dictatorship that it is very frowned upon to dare to denounce.
This is one of my first acrylic series. I am not European. I am French. I love Europe. His art. His culture. His history. I respect her. But I see its decline, inexorable which has repercussions on each of its members, including France. I see her diktats, her positions, and I am severe with her as she is with us. The people.
